Regenerate 2.0
Bio material deep dive

Context
The proposed partnership “Regenerate 2.0” builds on the foundation laid in the first Regenerate partnership (2024-25) which aimed to set up a dedicated space for experimental research on bio-based and locally sourced materials.
This partnership takes inspiration from the New European Bauhaus project which is a policy and funding initiative that makes green transition in built environments and beyond enjoyable, attractive and convenient for all. This specific call for project “Bio-fabricated materials for sustainable and beautiful construction” is the basis for the objective.
The current initiative represents the next step of this broader research agenda: a focused technical and design-driven effort to adapt 3D printing technologies for biomaterials and produce tangible prototypes for possible industry application. This proposal aims to initiate a focused project to develop a low-cost 3D printing setup for these biomaterials, refine printable recipes, and produce the first collection of 3D printed objects. We will also look at how these materials can be manipulated with molding and laser cutting technique.
